Background

In 1991, Bryan took his first course in ceramics at Parson’s School of Design in New York City.  By his third semester, he knew that clay would be an important part of his life.  Initially, he was not enamored with the material so much as challenged by it.  As any ceramicist will tell you, the ceramic process is replete with obstacles and frustration. For Bryan, however, this made his goal to create beautiful vessels even more meaningful.

In addition to Parson’s School of Design, Bryan has studied ceramics extensively at Raritan Valley Community College In Branchburg, New Jersey, and has participated in numerous workshops

Message from the Artist

My work is an ongoing exploration of wheel-thrown vessels.  Achieving a successful union of form and surface is of great importance to me, along with the development of an art object that is understated, yet engaging.  I think of my ceramic work as sculpture, yet it is created using the techniques of traditional pottery, for which I have great regard.

You can see samples of my work at pottersguildnj.com or in person at the Zimmerli Art Museum shop  - Rutgers University - New Brunswick, Through the Moongate - Highland Park, or by contacting me.
